The BBC has featured a story from Russia where Sochi, the site for the 2014 Winter Olympics, has stored thousands of tonnes of snow in mounds covered with reflective insulation.
The reason for the storage is that Sochi is quite southern and sits on the Black Sea so the climate is quite temperate. The temperate conditions led to a snow melt happening early in 2013 with some Olympic test events needing to be cancelled in February.
The story can be seen on You Tube HERE.
The Discovery Snow Tours 2014 tour occurs in the week right before the Sochi Games.
