2008 – Furano – Japan

We returned to the picturesque city of Furano, Japan in 2008. The snow quality, empty runs, lack of lift queues and friendly local town folk made this a very easy choice for a second year visit.

Discovery Snow Tours hosted its largest group ever (19 in total) and the skier levels ranged from extremely advanced to absolute first-time beginners. We also introduced a full "swap day" where all of the skiers went to snowboards for the day with some very funny results.

A fancy dress karaoke party hit the 2008 tour and it was instant hit. Everyone got into the spirit and had a hilarious night of laughing and off-key songs. The other off snow activites like snowmobiling and a visit to a tradtional onsen (for an entire afternoon) made this trip one to remember.

The final night Mongolian hot-pot dinner saw Ollie Evans for taking home the coveted King of the Mountain cup after being seen everywhere on the mountain during the day and in almost every bar at night!

"I wanted to drop you a note of thanks. Such an amazing experience. Furano was an incredible place and the whole Discovery crew were so much fun. So many new friends, so many laughs and on top "the powder".  Thanks again guys, the organisation was outstanding and everything just went so smoothly."

- Phil Raso (Furano, 2008)
